Jen & Black Jack
Although it will be the last year of racing at Reno, 2023 is just the beginning for Black Jack's pilot Jen Watson.
Jen first climbed into a small airplane in 2001 to begin flying lessons. Two short years later, she was climbing into regional jets. Deciding that type of piloting was not her calling, she left the airlines in 2007. She went on to become the Chief Flight Instructor and owner of AeroDynamic Aviation. Besides racing and teaching flying, Jen also competes in aerobatic contests with her Laser 200.
Jen's pedigree includes being a NAFI Master Flight Instructor, FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor, Aerobatic Regional Judge and competition pilot, qualified aviation expert witness, FAA Safety Team representative, and she holds ATP, CFI, CFII, MEI, and advanced ground instructor certifications for airplane single-engine land and sea, and multi-engine land.
Her husband, Josh Watson, flew Black Jack in 2021. He now pilots #31 Fraed Naught. With all their free time not devoted to running a business and raising 3 boys, the pair author an award-winning column titled "Right Seat" in NAFI magazine. They are quite a team of aviators!
